CURRENTLY SUPPORTS YOUTUBE ONLY, this is just version 1.0.
This extension makes downloading nicely-named YouTube videos a ONE-CLICK procedure. Upon loading any YouTube video page, the extension will load a list of links under the YouTube logo. The links represent the available versions (qualities) for that video.
To download a video, simply click the link representing the quality you want to save, and downloading will begin. Notice that the name of the video will be in the format:
ACCOUNT NAME - VIDEO NAME . flv/mp4
No more having to wonder where a video came from or what YouTube account created it. No more cutting and pasting links into third-party sites to download a file called video.mp4. No more opening Firefox just to use a plug-in to download a video from YouTube.
I have worked out many bugs related to file names including special characters (asterisks, slashes, ampersands, etc) and the extension gracefully replaces them with a space or something meaningful (like replacing the "&" with the word "and").
All comments, suggestions, requests, etc. are very welcome. This is my first extension for Chrome.
COMING SOON: support for other video sites, Dailymotion, etc.
